There is an Urban Billabong in the St Peters Council area, Beware......... when you come across it......... you will find there is ssssomething sssslithering around the area.....sssshhhh if you are ssssstill..... you can hear it.......... ssssssssss........ ssssssplash........This huge mosaic snake is slithering its way down to the water's edge. I wished I had been able to find an elevated position to photograph that, but here she is Billie as I have affectionately named her.... Billie of the Billabong.
This snake has guarded this Billabong and area since 1988 since its commission by the StPeters Council, the Commonweath Empl Prog and the Australian Bicentennial Authority.
I am under the impression that an art teacher in the nearby area and students from her school made this and the decorations on the bricks.
Billie is quite a ssssssssssssssight!

I spent ages admiring the handiwork of little artists, leaves and turtles, snakes, flowers, ducks, birds, plants, all sorts of treasures lovingly inscribed into these rustic bricks. Great work artists!!
If you have some sssssssspare time, head over to the river near Ninth Avenue and sssssssneak around, I am sssssssssure Billie will be happy to sssssssee you.
