I saw an Angel today!!

The Angel of Goodwood.

There's a lovely mosaic bench outside a supermarket near me, and each time I see it I think- where is my camera.....

Today..... I remembered to take my camera, so I am sharing these shots with you.

This is a large bench located in a local street shopping precinct with lots of foot traffic. Today as I went passed I realised this is the first time I have seen the whole bench. Usually there are people resting, and bags of shopping and doggies and owners.....and people chatting and catching up with friends.....

I had the opportunity to get photos from all angles, but no-one to pose for me sitting on it today....

Positioned outside Foodland Supermarket, Goodwood Road, Goodwood, South Australia.

Even looks great from the back side.

"Welcome one and all alike.
All ages shapes and origins."

"Whether sitting alone or together, cheerful or gloomy, the Angel of Goodwood sees with honest eyes."

Created by Devi and Vaughan.
This piece is not dated, so I am unsure how long it has been there. It has for as long as I can remember, and that is atleast 10 years.
Made of ceramic tiles and letter tiles, china, clay face and arms, clay focals.

An initiative of the Goodwood Traders and Services Association.

Hopefully one day soon I will get the chance to do some Public Art.

  1. Hi Karen, a beautiful Angel, somewhere I have seen a photo of Devi sitting on it but can't remember where.
Check out Devi's Web site for more info about herhttp://www.deviodonnell.com/previous_works/commissioned_public_art/angelseat/

  2. Yay- thankyou Jacqui. I'm looking forward to looking through Devi's site. Looks like the bench has only been there since 2001- I lived across the road in '86 and was sure it was there then. Time gets confusing in my "life before mosaics". Thanks again. :)xx
